NEWS I'M SUPER EXCITED ABOUT!

Revision Street: America on WBEZ's Vocalo: I'm re-envisioning Studs Terkel's Division Street: America, which I've been writing about here. The WBEZ blog (Revision Street: America) went live today, with a story about Sladjana Vuckovic's immigration to the East Side of Chicago. More from her tomorrow, so visit often. I'll be posting oral histories from your friends and neighbors for the next few months or so, and I couldn't be more excited. Check it out, comment if you like. Or: Know someone I should for sure interview? Do let me know!

Authenticating the Inauthentic on Truthout: "In recent years, much of our economy - and now, almost the entirety of our media - has come to rest on the public display of authenticity: ads that constantly bemoan the notion of the sales pitch, heartfelt apologies that run on the evening news whenever another perpetrator of a large-scale bank fraud is captured and the very real possibility that our own financial worries will cease when we are made the stars of our own reality television programs."  Read the Article

With Sonja Ahlers at Quimby's: June 10, 7 p.m. Sonja and I will either read, goof off, stare at the wall, or otherwise celebrate her new (awesome) book The Selves from Drawn & Quarterly. We haven't decided yet—get in touch if you have ideas.

Pilot-kitchen! on IndieGoGo: With 30 days to go, my Pilot-Kitchen project is 20% of the way to my goal. Thanks Cinnamon Cooper! I'll be doing a residency in July and August at the Baumwollspinnerei in Leipzig, Germany with the kind folk at Pilotenkueche. So if you have extra money, and want some tools to talk about the way socialism is sold under capitalism, you can donate here. Or click through to see the ridiculous illustration of a project I'll be working on, using your cell phone to read QR codes at the Berlin Wall that link to information about the fake Berlin Wall replica in Ronald Reagan's hometown of Dixon, IL. WTF? I know!

Have a great summer!
