Hi,
Does the FlareSolver 2.0 actually work for fanfiction.net as of 26April 2023?
Also I changed the Use browser cash only to in conjunction with flareSolver.
Should I just change it back?
PS:
Although I have save browser cash set to -1 the in practise this doesn't hold up after maybe an hour there seems to bno cash available. Is this an inherent probwith MSEdge and how long it keeps cashed files?
Thank You.
Regards:
Melissa Cox.

FlareSolverr is up to v3.1.2 now, which is the latest I've tested.
While FFF will still work with FlareSolverr v2, it's less likely that
FlareSolverr v2 still gets past CloudFlare, which is the point.

FFF's Browser Cache feature is meant to be an alternative to using a
proxy like FlareSolverr, not a complement.  I don't see a good reason to
use both.

The browser cache itself can be cleared by the browser or the operating
system over time--they are by definition temporary files.  I couldn't
tell you anything about MS Edge in particular in that regard.

Hi Jim,
I've just added this to personal.ini:
use_flaresolverr_proxy:true
Do I need to add the proxy and other settings underneath it, or will they be asumed.
Is there any way I can make it so that browser cash is only looked for if FlareSolver fails on Fanfiction.net?
PS:
Is there any way to download all stories from a user on FF.net or AO3 the same question applies to series on AO3?
Thank you for the hundreds of hours you devote to this fantastic pluggin.

The other settings only need to be included if you need values different
than the defaults.

No, as I said, browser cache feature is an alternative, they aren't
designed to both be used at the same time.

The error says it can't connect to the FlareSolverr.  Are you sure it's
running and on the same computer?

I'm sorry I didn't get back to you, I was away.
Can you elaborate when you asked if FlareSolver was running on
the same computer, please?

You need to download, install and run FlareSolverr yourself.  FanFicFare isn't going to do it for you.

See: https://github.com/FlareSolverr/FlareSolverr/releases

If that's a challenge, perhaps you should consider a different solution that doesn't need it such as WebToEpub for FanfictionDownloader.net.

How does it redirect to Flaresloverr once it's downloaded for windows? Sorry first time using it so am not sure. Do you need to run flaresolver once in windows, then configure fanficfare or what?

I'm in the same boat you are.  What you do is run the Flaresolverr executable from wherever you put it.  Then run FFF from Calibre.  Make sure you remembered to modify your person.ini.

Do you just need to have flaresolverr running? Since i don't think you can edit the config files.

Me personally, I use Flaresolverr as is.  I run the .exe, then run my FFF having edited the FFF personal.ini with the Flaresolverr tag/code.

How bypass the captcha for fanfiction.net since it just keeps doing same page over and over again and its been doing it for 5 minutes now.

I ran into similar confusions when trying to figure it out.  Maybe I was slow, but it wasn't clear to me that you download the Flaresolverr from github, then run it from your PC.  Then you run your FFF update.  The only problem I'm running into right now is my AV software interfering with flaresolverr a bit.

But how do you bypass the captcha page since it just keeps reloading same page.

did you run the flaresolverr application?  I don't get the ff.net captcha when running flaresolverr.  Flaresolverr handles it.  You shouldn't be seeing any browser screens.  Are you sure you edited the FFF personal.ini appropriately?  And that you're not still using browser cache?

How many tries does it normally take for it to solve it i have turned off browser_cache

Riothamus

It usually takes one try per chapter, now sometimes it takes 5 seconds to solve and sometimes 30-45 seconds...  All I see is a windows command prompt in the background while FFF processes.  Maybe it does run into more than one captcha but I haven't noticed it not working it out.  Except for the AV interference.

This is a screenshot from a ff.net fic that didn't need an update so it's short.

No problem.  Like I said, I went through the same confusion last week into this week and only recently figured it out.

Its defiently easier than browser cache so you don't ahve to click openign the first and last pages every time.

Yep, it sure is.  And I turn on the open browser feature and was regularly getting browser pages opened that I'd already opened, like the author page, or the cover image or the first chapter.  So I switched to Flaresolverr.  I also needed it for Scribblehub so it was two things that finally made me figure it out.

It's slower though but at least it works.

What's slower? Browser cash or flaresolver?

Flaresolverr since it takes 3 minutes to grab the fanfic and download it and sometimes there are errors and it takes 30 minutes to grab one chapter.
