How to add fancybox to wordpress without plugin

Plz someone tell me how can i add fancybox to my site without using fancybox plugin. What things i need to change or what file to edit?

If you do not know how to edit a WordPress template, you had better start on the WordPress Codex pages (on http://codex.wordpress.org/Templates#Header.2C_Footer.2C_Sidebar.2C_and_Content_Sections for example) and if you do not know what this all means, you will have to start with on http://www.w3schools.com/html/html_intro.asp ;)

I know how to edit header, footer or sidebar of wordpress but i am confused in What to include in header or footer or what files should i add to my web disk. I already read the fancybox how to but cannot figure it out where and what to start. So plz can u give me step by step process. I shall be very thankful to you.
