Winter Rides

Saturday December 13th will be the Somerville Illuminations Bike Tour, starting at Reavis Field which is part of the the city hall-high school campus.   You enter near the intersection of Community Path and School St.   The Illuminations Tour is about both riding to thoroughly decorated homes and also enjoying the decorative lights of the bikes participating.   The Illuminations Tour is not a Family Bike Ride event, but some in the Family Bike Ride universe are involved, including myself on behalf of Somerville Bicycle Advisory Committee.

(as always we could use a few more volunteers, reply if interested, positions are crossing guards or in some cases just gesturing to people to turn right or left.   After you finish your position you can rejoin the ride)

Family Bike Ride will have its 3rd Annual Winter Ride sometime between January-March 2026, the date is picked a few days before based on favorable weather forecast and ground conditions.   Usually there is a surprise sweet treat, and we hope to do that some more this time...This year we will meet at Glacken Playground Cambridge and ride around on the protected bike infrastructure of Fresh Pond, return is also at Glacken Playground.   You cannot save the date now but if you are on this email list you will already be the first to know when the date is picked.
