Family Promise - Next core meeting

Supporters and core team participants of Family Promise of Cobb,
As we announced at our last core meeting, Zion Baptist has joined our team of hosting congregations. We will get an opportunity to meet Zion Baptist folks at our next core team meeting Tuesday (not Thursday when we normally meet) September 24 at 7pm at Zion Baptist Church. They are located on Church Street just off the square in Marietta.
Also, we now have 13 hosting congregations! East Cobb Methodist has signed the hosting covenant agreement and will host with us in 2014. We have now reached our goal of 13 congregations which means that no church will have to host more than four weeks in a given year. This is great news! We continue to move ahead on all other fronts including fundraising, securing a new day center location, and hiring a director which we are in the process of doing. Don’t forget our two upcoming events:
· The Yoga Mala event at Unity North this Saturday from 2pm to 7pm. You can register for $15 online at www.unitynorth.org or pay $20 at the door on Saturday.
· The East Cobber Parade ( http://www.marietta.com/east-cobber-parade-festival ) on 9/21 at 10am starting at Mt. Bethel Elementary – We will be marching in the parade and will have a car that will look like one owned by someone who is homeless. We will also have kids from Mt. Zion Methodist riding their decorated bicycles. We will have a booth at the end of the parade at the Fountains of Old Towne Shopping Center on Johnson Ferry Road. We will be selling water, tee shirts, and informing visitors about Family Promise. So, we are looking for folks to donate water and asking for you as a core team member to donate some of your time to being at the booth/table until 3pm where we will be informing folks about Family Promise and encouraging donations.
