To the Family Promise of Cobb Core team,

We had a great first “See Box City” event over the weekend at the parking lot of St. James Episcopal Church near the Marietta Square.  The weather cooperated perfectly (no rain and not cold), so I know we were being watched over.  I counted 26 cars, six boxes, and one tent Saturday night. We collected over $3,500 but we’re still reconciling the $$ total, so not completely sure of the final total.  The music from the Australian Bakery Bluegrass Jam and from the Jubilate Choir were great and raised our spirits.  We also had some homeless men visit and we were able to feed them.  Food was provided by Chick-Fil-A, Jersey Mike’s as well as from Lane and Paula and it just enough for all of us.  This was a great first-time event and will only get better next year.  And, many thanks go to Jennie Scott for creating the vision and details for this event.

I have two fold-up lounge chairs (orange and gray) that someone left.  Please let me know so I can get them back to you.  Also, Keira Dandridge of Zion Baptist created a beautifully decorated box entitled “We Are not Art” for someone to sleep in and the attached YouTube link gives her personal description of the box and the meaning of her poem. If you can’t read the poem on the video, I will be glad to type it up and send it out. Just let me know.
