Note that in 1693 "Jacob Vanderveer" is taxable but in 1697 he is not,
which means he turned 70 between the dates of the two lists, so born
roughly between 1623-1627. In 1697, son Cornelius is taxed instead for
the value Jacob was taxed in 1693. Cornelius is not taxed in 1693, but
sons John and William are. William is taxed as being in Christina,
while Jacob, Cornelius and John are taxed in Brandywine. The tavern
that William ran was on the south side of the Brandywine (so in
Christina) where the road to Philadelphia crossed the river and ran
through the western portion of Jacob's total property (per the survey
map). Jacob Jr. is not taxed in New Castle, so had moved to Salem Co.,
NJ by the time of the 1693 tax assessment.
