I am still working on this.  Eventually, it will be necessary to
pursue records in Bushwick, very few of which are available on line.
It is possible, given a note in the article on the Cropsey family in
"Morris' Memorial History of Staten Island", that the Caspersens are
also the origins of the Gasper/Casper family on the South River.

Thanks Dr. Craig.

This evening I finally ran across a couple records which identify the
family of Jan Cornelissen de Zeeuw of Bushwick. His sons were
Cornelius Jansen and Pieter Jansen both eventually appearing in
records as Loyse and Loy.

Ok. I have gathered more information and this group in Bushwick are
the Springsteens. Not all lines adopted the surname, one definitely
adopted Cropson/Cropsey.

I have looked over the research out there concerning this family and
no one has anything on Johannes Caspersen who was born in 1679.

There is also nothing explaining the 9 year gap in children of
Johannes Casperson (uncle of the one in the last sentence) and Maria
Theunis Rapalje.

Before I brave the insulting condesending attitudes on the Dutch
Colonies List and suggest that our Johannes is the one born in 1679,
does anyone have anything to add?
