Major issues with people in tree

Hi,

Earlier today the app was working, but when I checked it an hour ago many people were inexplicably duplicated up to four or five times, many more were deleted (I can't be sure if the numbers even out, but it seems likely) and many have been left alone. I checked the tree for errors and found nothing; the issue is still present. It did stop the app from crashing. Do you have any recommendations to resolve this, or any way to access the original tree?

Follow up: would it mess up any chance of restoring the tree if I tried to fix it now? (by recreating the people deleted that I remember and deleting duplicates)
