Why doesn't Family Gem import wedding dates from gedcom file?

Because the program needs to know where to look. The wedding date can come from a Register entry whose format varies from State to State or from a newspaper, a family Bible, a diary entry, anything.  The program isn't that clever.  It looks for a field that it can copy.  Some things you have to do for yourself.

You don't understand. The wedding dates are already in gedcom file that should already be available for import with rest of file but it does not.

I found the problem. The wedding date does get imported from the GEDCOM file but is only visible when you  open the tree, tap on the left three bars, open family, search for the family you want and then open the person. Wedding date does appear there. I think it should also appear when you open the persons tab and click on the person, but it does not. Frank H.

Gl would have expected the wedding details to be visible only in a Family view.  A person with 2 marriages has 2 families and 2 wedding records.  Only the wedding for the current family should be displayed. .

Dear Frank,
what you are describing is not possible.
Opening the same person from Family or from Persons list brings to the same identical person profile.
Check if you are opening the same person profile..

That said, per GEDCOM standard, the description of a wedding should go inside a Family, not inside a Person.

Thanks, Michele. To find the wedding date, I would not have expected it to be on an individual's profile.  In my decades of experience, I have always followed the link from the person's profile to the appropriate family.
