How to change the text encoding in imported ged-files?

Probably the GEDCOM file you imported is missing one line that indicates its encoding, that probably is UTF-8.
You may open the GEDCOM file with a text editor and just below the first line (0 HEAD) add this line:

1 CHAR UTF-8
