Hi there, I found this group through the post on Momapedia. Our 11 yr old went to the dentist tonight for routine check up. We lost insurance last year so it had been a year since her last cleaning.
She's almost in middle school and has only lost 4 baby teeth. We were shocked when the dentist told us she doesn't have any adult teeth in her mouth! Only the 4 that have already come in. 1 of them is a peg tooth. He said he's never seen anything like it. He told us to see a pediatric dentist. What should I be looking for in this dentist? Wait to see who he refers me to? We do have a trusted orthodontist that has treated 2 of our other children with normal teeth.
I've obviously been Googling... and found the other genetic things that can cause this. She does have a few of those symptoms.
We are newish to the area here in FL and I'm looking for what we need to do next. We have no medical insurance and this is devastating news for us all.
I appreciate any and all insight you might be able to provide.

The National Foundation for Ectodermal Dysplasia might be a good resource for you.
