Mr Bruno,

Unfortunately, these walkout efforts and "March" for Schools are all about GUN CONTROL and nothing
to do about the safety of our children in schools. Too bad...

Case in point: I have a home in Florida and have had occasion to visit both Hollywood and
Fort Lauderdale's City Halls.  They BOTH have armed security guards (might be LE), and METAL
DETECTORS that ALL must pass through the gain entrance to CITY HALL.

Yet Not ONE of the schools in Parkland have or have recently installed (since the Cruz shooting) metal
detectors to PROTECT the children!!  INFACT, this past week 3 students were arrested for IN SCHOOL
possession of knives!  One of them THREATENED another student.  I'm not sure if this story was carried locally
in Maine.

Case #2: As a result of the knives found in this school, The GOVERNOR had to plead with Broward County
to INCREASE Police presence at these schools, offering the use of 9 Florida State Troopers.  BSO also added another 8 LEOs to the mix. AGAIN, Hard to believe that these actions had NOT taken place WEEKS after the shooting!

I REALLY hope that Falmouth Schools (I'm a 1978 Grad) take the security of our schools seriously and at a
minimum take these steps:

1) ONE single entrance into the schools (was VERY glad to see two schools' entrances modified over this
past summer)
2) Metal detector installations at each of the schools. These don't need to be obtrusive and can be programmed
to alarm with certain sized pieces of metal (so belt buckels don't set them off)
3) EVERY student required to wear an ID (like staff has to) that has embedded RFID technology. This would also
log students in AND OUT of the school and again be very unobtrusive.
4) A minimum of TWO uniformed Law Enforcement Officers at EACH of the three schools. One would always be stationed
at the school's MAIN and only incoming entrance, the other roving the school (and providing relief to the main entrance LEO).
5) Publishing policy to PARENTS, that in the unlikely event that there is an incident at any of the schools, parents will NOT be allowed
in via Woodville Rd and that students will be bused to location X (maybe Central Fire Station) after the event. I predict
ALOT of pissed off Hero parents DEMANDING to have access to a "Locked Down" facility!

Lastly, but not leastly, I recall that when I was serving on the Town Council there was ALOT of discussion around NOT installing
cameras INSIDE the school, only on the outside.  I hope this objection has passed and cameras are now
on the inside.

Pushback from Parents be damned, like it has in the past (not wanting cams inside schools, etc, etc). Let's implement REAL change that ACTUALLY does something to protects our students!  Walkouts and the like do nothing but grab Fake news headlines.

Thanks for your time and consideration.
I know that we are in good hands with Falmouth PD. Please support their recommendations.

Respectfully,
Dave Libby

Great letter Dave. Hope it has positive effects. Any chance that FCSC can be re-started?
Bruce

David,
OUTSTANDING suggestions. The school board, school administration and town council should be pressured to see to it they are implemented as soon as reasonably possible e.g. ASAP. The pressure should be restless!! If anyone feels these suggestion are unworkable or unwise they should be made to offer alternate suggestions/solutions BEFORE there is a Falmouth disaster. I am concerned Mr.. Bruno hasn't had the curtseys to contact you.
