Read Tony Payne's follow up explanation below, regarding why
NOT to vote for CEO...
HARD to believe that CEO has a propensity to run to EMPLOYERS' BOSSES of Folks that have FACTUAL information to share!!!
Common Chrissy, THAT is a childhood prank... RUNNING TO THE TEACH TO TATTLE...
Here is Tony's piece:
Thanks for asking about Chris Orestis' attendance at council meetings. Having served with Chris for two of his three years, I noted both absences and tardy arrivals were far more common for Chris than other members of the council.
Out of curiosity, I viewed the opening of every meeting during the last three years to see if Chris was present at the calling of the roll. Based on my observations, I wrote: "During his one term on the council, he has been noticeably absent when attendance is taken. For more than a dozen meetings, his seat was empty when the town clerk called the roll."
He was absent for roll call on the following dates:
1) Feb 13, 2012
2) Feb 27, 2012
3) Apr 23, 2012
4) May 14, 2012
5) July 23, 2012
6) Sep 24, 2012
7) Mar 11, 2013
8) Apr 22, 2013
9) May 29, 2013
10) Jun 17, 2013
11) Aug 12, 2013
12) Oct 16, 2013
13) May 19, 2014
But this election is more than simply about attendance or not listing his phone number for constituents on the town web site. It also is about temperament and behavior.
As many may recall during the debate on business signage, Chris dramatically intoned that the Falmouth Town Council should "send a message" to and levy "a big ol' fine" on a business that had not complied with the town's sign ordinance. A word carved in a stone sign was one-inch too small, a clear violation but one which deserved far better public process and decorum. Chris' message was heard loud and clear by businesses in Falmouth and surrounding communities.
Also, earlier this week after I sent my newsletter, Chris called my employer, accusing me of slander and threatened legal action. This was an act of intimidation.
Apparently this behavior is not an isolated event. I recently received an email from former council candidate Brian Dench in which he said Chris has made similarly disparaging telephone calls to his place of business. Mr. Dench recently wrote: "On a personal level, he has twice contacted my law firm behind my back to attack me personally due to my engaging in the local political process in ways he does not like."
I know this all sounds like petty political skirmishing, and in many ways it is, but I care how the town is represented and how the council conducts its business. That is why I suggested there are three better choices on the ballot.
Finally, I'm very mindful of the role I play in informing voter opinion. I will share these thoughts in my next newsletter so that there will no confusion.
As you are undoubtedly in touch with a number of people who may have had similar questions, please feel free to share this email. Again, thanks for asking. - Tony
