Further to the comments from Dave Libby and others. You have to ask yourself if Mr. Orestis is qualified for the town council, or ANY public office, when yo consider his actions against me. Twice in 2012 Mr. Orestis went to my employer, a law firm in Auburn having nothing to do with Falmouth politics, to tryu to embarrass me, and the firm, and to try to intimidate me into keeping silent about his conduct as a town councilor. He ran to the press (expecting and getting friendly treatment).
What had i done to provoke that? Once I asked the town for access to his emails for a one month period, a right available by law to any person in Maine. Then I wrote a published op ed piece in the Forecaster to question whether our town, and councilor Orestis in particular, really were "business friendly." This he describe to my employer and professional colleagues (in Auburn, not Falmouth) as harassing him.
So the lesson for all citizens is unless you are going to fawn over Councilor Orestis you'd better keep quiet or he will try to hurt you with your employer. How could anyone support an elected official who thinks that the right response to perceived criticism is to attack you with your employer and to try to jeopardize your job or cow you into silence?
