Here is what I emailed our Town Council:

Once again, I write you to express deep concern that we are giving our assessment operations AWAY to a remote operation.  Please know that the ONLY reason that we have in EXCESS of $2 BILLION of Real Estate worth is because we have local town staff that is VIGILANT by watching changes in Real Estate via MANY tools, including aerial Google mapping!
The other HUGE issue is that parking in Portland is terrible. I'm not sure where the new assessors office will be? Parking at the Court house is nansty and requires a metal detector shake down during times the court is in session. If at the new Deeds office, I just recorded a deed and it took me 15 minutes to find parking and had to walk 10 mins to get there.
Lastly, we are giving 1/2 of our checking account AWAY to people who's attention will be divided by 4 towns.
What is next? Rationalizing Planning and DPW would be much easier and yield ALOT more savings.
Thanks for your time, ear, and commitment to our GREAT town.

By the way, we are not saving a DIME !!!
