The chaperone solution for Carmen

Good news! Our application was approved to attend the LA Opera
production of Bizet’s Carmen on December 10th. This means we have
tickets for 75 students and 8 chaperones. Students who hope to attend
should ASAP organize teams of about 10 students with a parent/guardian
chaperone and present a typed application—see the form below for
application format.

Please note that the LA Opera typically receives two—three times more
demand than they can accommodate. This year, we in the Magnet have
half the tickets we had last year, many fewer tickets than my own
class rosters contain names. Ms. Morrison and Ms. Lee-Park have also
been consulted on the event, and some of their students (and other
instructors’ students) will apply to attend. In short, demand is much
higher than supply. Groups will not be selected based solely on order
of application but also on group members’ class participation and
behavior. Choose group members carefully.
