All -

Trying to make a call on a Vertical Power system for a new build.

Lots of information out there and lots of opinions from people as to why they have never used it. I would like to ask one question to anyone who has installed or owned an airplane with a Vertical Power system. Please only respond yes or no if you have actually installed or flown with the system:
  1. If you were building a new RV, would you put one in your new build?
Thanks!

Sparky

We installed the VPX Pro in our RV14. You’d need to ask Bill Bacon though about how he likes it. I’m still not current to fly.

When working, I really like the features. Mine has been in twice for service. Customer service is good.
Cheers - AJ

Sparky,

I'm not a fan of the VP-X concept.  What you gain in hardware wiring simplicity, you lose in software/circuit troubleshooting complexity.
You also need the more expensive VP-X $2800 PRO version and license to support all of the circuitry required for an IFR airplane.
If their box fails, you could lose everything... And your airplane will be down until you remove the unit, send it in for repairs, and reinstall it.
For troubleshooting electrical problems, it's hard to beat inexpensive circuit breakers, fuse blocks, and toggle switches.

But, then again, I'm old school...

One of the guys at the Smoke On clinic this weekend had it... I called for nav lights pulling on the runway and he couldn't turn them on without a 3-menu deep process, so he had to skip it.  But he claims he loves it for solo flight.

I'm with Waldo, I like switches too.
