Dear Prayer Warriors,
Thank you for all the work you are doing in prayer. We have been working on Stanford campus with the international students for the past 5 years and still working on strategy of how to reach out to the Stanford professors more successfully. Presently, we are in the Kansas area visiting family and friends. While we are here we will meet with Governor Brownback to discuss the possibility of bringing an amazing educational program to the state of Kansas named “Global Champions”. This program, which we are the founding directors, has been very successful in Asia and we have done successful pilot programs in the 4 time zones of America - CA, CO, MI, and NY. We are currently looking for a state where we can explore the possibilities of doing a statewide program.
We have some innovative and creative ideas that engage the students and their parents in leadership development, character education and comprehensive life skills coupled with community service (local and international) and exchange programs to countries that are currently engaged in our Global Champions Program. We will share this educational opportunity with Gov. Brownback on Monday, 7/17/17 to see if it would benefit the students and families of Kansas.
Dr. Steve was born and raised in Haviland, Kansas just outside of Pratt and he would love to bring this beneficial program back to his home state as a way of saying thank you to Kansas from the Long family.
Please see the Pepperdine article attached below. The article is very dated but our current statistics are:
- Over 3 million graduates of a one year course at the middle school level
- High school booster clubs to continue the program at higher levels of community service projects
- University students take a 2 unit course on leadership and community service at their university
- 189,000 middle school students per year take one class per week as an elective or part of the health curriculum
- 6,000 trained volunteer mentors are in the classrooms with the students per week
We have many testimonies of transformed lives both in students and their parents.
Thank you for your much needed prayers.
Steve and Vicky
