I have gamepass and I was looking to scratch the skateboard itch and decided to get one of the Skate games, I downloaded the original Skate first but the low angle camera was too weird for me to get used to, decided the mechanics might be a bit more polished in 3 and went for it and...

I hated it! it took so long to get used to basic mechanics, the idea in my head of arcade-y fun THPS style play completely went out the window, when you start this game making a decent ollie, landing a grind on a curb or Manualing for 30 seconds is a chore, but then it clicked for me: This is actually what skateboarding is like, I skated for 6/7 years in my teens and early 20s and you fall all the time, you struggle so hard for every trick, doing a 4 stair feels impossible and you bail 30/40 times before it clicks in. and Skate 3 NAILS this feeling of slow grinding progression. The pay off is when you manage to wrestle the controls and physics into pulling off a truly great line or trick its incredibly satisfying.

That said the one part of it that feels a bit undercooked is the actual plot and game progression. Plotwise the whole start a company and build it up is pretty standard (Tony hawk Underground did this earlier) but it's much closer to how it actually works: with demos, contests and photos for mags, all of these had fun moments but my issues with the contests/tricks/demos is I often felt like I was cheesing the controls to win just trying to get as many tricks and spins into a period of time and I wish considering the focus on realism they had emphasised style much more (smoothness, consistency) which is much more important to real life skaters popularity. I also feel like the photos/footage part of the game was a massive missed opportunity... getting the photo with a big trick is all that matters, the photo itself can be complete garbage, the game doesn't care. I would much rather there was a Pokemon Snap like element where the game cared about composition and angle and awarded you higher points for "better" photos.

What more needs to be said? Okay, so maybe a little more needs to be said. Name-calling is unacceptable. Direct or implied threats are unacceptable. Doxing is unacceptable. Also, what happens in other subreddits should stay in other subreddits.

Low-effort content should not be posted. This includes posts that consist of just a title; titles that are not descriptive; and posts that are overly broad with no context of how you intend to use the surfskate. As a rule of thumb, if a question is answered in the FAQ or the Buyers Guide then it should not be posted.

As someone who has just recently started to learn to skate, what's the difference between a skater and a poser? I mean, I'm not good... I don't do any fancy tricks... About all I can do at this point is hit some ramps and carve around corners at my local park.

After a couple of days of skating on a borrowed board, I bought parts and got one built, and bought some skate shoes... I know I'll never be pro, or sponsored or whatever, but I have fun doing what I'm doing, and I plan on continuing to skate and learn and get better.

i know theres more cons than pros but i do think the skateboards are a good addition to the game, just needs some adjustments and extra stuff (especially the offroad board because people have been asking for that)

so i've gotten the basics of skateboarding (turning, pushing, etc.) down and i'm ready to start learning some tricks (manuals, ollie, etc.). would it be more beneficial to learn these on a street/in a parking lot first before trying it in a skate park? or would learning them at a skate park make it easier to do on the street?

In the light of Skate 3 potentially becoming backwards compatible, it made me curious as to why this game is so popular. Being someone who LOVED the Tony Hawk pro skater games way back on the PS2 makes me wonder, why this game? Any insight would be appreciated!

I have an appointment setup this Sunday to get my classic setup. I have never done XC in my life. I am going to Nordic Highlands for the Ontario folks. I started to wonder whether I should be going with classic or skate. I downhill skied my whole life and played hockey as a kid and I am guessing skate technique is probably similar to those sports. Should I begin in classic or should I go with skate instead. What complicates this is my buddy is going with me to get his gear and he has never skated or downhill skied but wants to get into a winter activity. I started to wonder if I should go with skate instead. We are both in decent condition (he is in excellent condition) as we both cycle all summer long. We are looking to continue our endurance improvements throughout the winter and XC seems like a great choice to do that but now I am starting to wonder if we should go straight to skate instead of classic. So reddit should we start in skate or classic?

I legitimately have a hard time getting myself to skate for more than 10 minutes at a time, and over only skated for maybe 3 hours total since I put my board together like 5 months ago. How do you guys do it? I just get so bored.

Don't really many people that do. Gonna be working at amazon soon doing a somewhat easy job that doesn't require much walking. Hopefully I won't be exhausted at the end of my shift to skate and hope I won't get injured and not be able to work or some shiet. That's why I want an office job or wfh ?

I heavily enjoy skate 3 as I can just zone out to the soundtrack and playing the game is something I don't have to think about at all, there is no story, no dialogue, nothing at all to pay attention to. When I bail it isn't too frustrating, unlike shooters where it is more competitive. The games don't necessarily have to be skating or sports games, I'm aware of THPS and steep, ssx etc but I think I'd want a different genre. I'm not too into racing games so those aren't desirable. I mainly just want a game I can listen to music, zone out and just play it. I wouldn't want games that already have a good soundtrack as I'd want to play my own music, doom wouldn't be a good fit. I'm thinking of something like CS surfing or cluster truck. I'm on Xbox, but also have a PS3, PS2, switch and 3DS.

Hey everyone, I'm thinking about starting up again, but I'm not sure where to skate. There is a park near me, but it is always filled with kids. I think I would feel like a creep if I were to be the only old head there. I have a car and there are plenty of industrial parks around, but aren't they patrolled by security or police? Where do you guys skate? Am I just being silly worrying about these things?

So I just saw the post on iOSgaming about this game, and since I've been a fan of touchgrind skate 2 I thought I would check it out. I'm downloading it now, but before I go and start buying DLC, how would you guys and gals compare the two?

I was maining igneous hammer/dire promise(godrolls) and life was easy but..I tried annual skate with surplus and timed payload and I just can't stop. Every time I use different hand cannon I think that skate feels better.
Anyone else thinks that skate is actually good or I'm really a paranoic copium addict?

I hear stories about pro skaters skating all day with their friends when they were younger, but I have no idea how people can do that. Today I skated from 11:30 to 4:30 pretty much nonstop, the only time I was off my board was when I was getting some snacks at the 7-11. I want to be able to skate 24/7, but I can only go for 5-6 hours nonstop until I don't have enough energy to even ollie. I was wondering if anyone here skates the entire day and if you could give me tips on being able to skate for a longer period of time. I love skating so much and I want to do it as much as I can. Thanks!
