Hi all.
I'm looking for an easy to use and accessible to use tuner app for iOS, I hope there is one?
If not, I'm just going to make one. I'm an iOS developer, as some of you may know, so if there isn't a tuner app and you'd like one, please tell me some nice features that you'd like the app to have?

Talking Tuner is accessible and seems to be accurate. I can get within a few cents of matching a note between strings with ear tuning, but the precise tuning can make a noticeable difference. Before that I used tuning forks as a starting point, an E for guitar and A for other instruments like ukuleles. It turned out my A fork was a couple of cents off when I checked it with the app.

Worst assumption I've ever heard. I agree to disagree on this as some musicians have perfect pitch, such as myself, but not all. So saying, if you're a musician, you don't need a tuner is just plain false. I know a lot of musicians who use tuners and while, I don't, I'd rather be around people who use tuners so we're on the same page as far as tuning goes. You, (sur,) neeeeeeeeeed to educate yourself on us musicians more and don't say shitty things like this! So sick of people coming in and thinking they know everything. Are you a musician yourself? Have you been around the music industry enough to know? No, Nay? Then you have no room to talk! I'll call you out again if you say stuff about musicians that are non but lies. Okay, getting back on topic, Gotta look but there's also an app where it's a tuner and a metronome all in one.

as for tuning with your ears, maybe you're right in a way, because I also have perfect pitch, and I don't use a tuner most of the time, but I think there are some situations where a very very subtle difference exists and thus you need to use a tuner.

Hi!
As for me, it's been said, I don't use any tuner.
If the guitar isn't ideal, you should tune this being accordingly the classical music.
For example, you play a music and you see the music is built with tertia or quinta or octava.
Then for best sounding you have to test two sounds with a need interval.
In general, it is not topic of htis discussion. So .. I am silent. And I am ready to agree with other users.
If anyone likes tuner let him use it. smile.
Cheers!

I have been playing guitar for a number of years now and have always relied on two guitar tuners in total. One is built into my Line 6 Spider guitar amplifier, while the other one is a Korg GA-30 tuner. Yes, the latter is pretty old and I got mine in 2008. It still works!

But, times are changing. Our phones and tablets now have excellent microphones, meaning it was time for me to ditch the Korg tuner in favor of an app because why not! So, like any other average person I searched for 'guitar tuner' on the App Store and GuitarTuna popped up. It had high ratings, good reviews, so naturally I downloaded it. And since I started using it, I've never touched the Korg tuner again.

I'm not going to deep-dive into how the app works but only tell you that the 'tuner' part of this app works absolutely flawlessly every single time. Never ever I had the moment where I felt the app was going to give up on me. And it's super accurate, thanks to the great microphones that now ship with our phones.

There are two ways you can tune your guitar using the app - manual and auto. By default, it's set to auto and it just detects the tone of the string and you can match it up with the graphic on your phone's screen. In manual mode, you select each string manually and tune it up. I would suggest doing things in full auto as it makes everything pretty easy. But it's your choice how you want to navigate the water.

The app jumps straight into the tuner every single time you launch the app. You don't have to press an extra button or anything. It's ready every time. That's something I can't say about a lot of apps.

With access to the likes of chord graphs and a superb tutorial on how to tune your instrument on first open - everybody has to start somewhere! - this is among the very best apps for beginners. After tuning, it has a number of songs you can play along with too. If you are new to guitar, SimplyTune is the app for you.

A unique spin on the visual display makes this tuner stand out from the crowd, showing you very clearly each of your strings and whether you need to tune it higher or lower. Unfortunately, only standard tuning is available on the free version of the app and you will need to sign up for premium on a rolling subscription to access other tunings and the rest of the features.

The Pro Guitar Tuner app feels simple, but also very stable, with reviews citing the ease of use and accuracy of the tuner. The octave up-tuning feature is handy, particularly if you are trying to find out whether you need to adjust your intonation - a simple feature, but one that is often not specifically included.

To unlock the full version, a one-off payment of $9.99 is required, which removes the advertisements from the app - which you will want to do as they are pretty constant - and gives access to many other tunings and instruments - only standard tuning and 6-string guitar is available for free. For a one-off fee, this is palatable, but some of the other apps on this list offer these features without payment.

When choosing what we believe to be the best guitar tuner apps available right now, we combine our hands-on experience, user reviews and testimonies and engage in lengthy discussions with our editorial colleagues to reach a consensus about the top products in any given category.

First and foremost, we are musicians, and we want other players to find the right product for them. So we take into careful consideration everything from budget to feature set, ease of use and durability to come up with a list of what we can safely say are the best guitar tuner apps on the market right now.

Granted that your amplifier isn't terrible, it should be fine through the amplifier. What's more important is any possible sound effects that you have on it. Things like distortion and vibrato can cause difficulties for a guitar tuner to pick up the string's actual tone. This is why tuner pedals are usually the first pedal in the chain, too -- the tuner only cares for the sound's pitch, so it's best to leave it unmodified.

Are you plugging directly into the iPhone or are you attempting to have the iPhone's microphone pick up your guitar? It's best to eliminate the most extraneous noise possible. Using an amplifier can cause inconsistencies as you are relying on the phone's small microphone instead of a direct signal.

These results are approximate rounded results. You can see though how much more accurate your tuning can be by looking at those figures though. This sort of accuracy is especially important when setting up the intonation on your guitar. You are more likely to have all the notes on the guitar closer to correct tuning when checking with a strobe tuner.

iStrobosoft on the other hand seems to pick up notes quite well, even an unplugged electric guitar. As expected the treble strings lose signal on the screen a lot faster than the bass strings, but this is to be expected with an unplugged electric guitar.

The great thing with iStrobosoft is that it has built in functionality just for these sorts of problems. Peterson saw fit to add in a noise filter and an input boost. The other fantastic thing that Peterson have done is make an adapter cable, thus allowing you to plug in a microphone or guitar directly in to your iPhone. This is also reasonably price which makes it a no brainer to add to your want list. I hope to get one soon.
