Hello,
I was wondering if someone could explain the ash that was put into the compost?
I'm sure there's good reason for it, but I don't care for breathing it in when I go to dig a hole for my compost.
Thanks,
Amy

p.s. Some good size squash was appearing yesterday...green & yellow, if you have need. :)

Ash is from our BBQ--  I have some left over potting soil I can cover it with.

I happened to talk to they worm guy who consulted with us when we first built our bins and he says BBQ ash is not good for the worms and will mess with the ph balance.  He suggested that we not put ash or soil in there, since soil makes everything more compacted.  He thought we should use some of the mulch that is free from the county to help with the wetness of the bins.
Sorry it took me so long to respond to this but we were out of town.
