Dear Fair Trade Coalition,
If you're excited for the spring, read on! Lots of amazing things to read below that are definitely going to warm you up :)
Please note that we are asking for membership dues this spring. It's under bullet 4, but the main point is that members who joined during or before 2013 will pay $35/year and new members that join will pay $50/year. This will help pay for our group sales events, social media support, website revamp and maintenance, publishing, etc.
As always, reach out to Becky and Nimet with any questions or comments.
Cheers,
Becky and Nimet

4. Membership Dues
So we've been pretty lax about this up to now, but starting this spring we need to start enforcing our membership dues. This is to allow us to plan more and higher quality events, devote resources into re-vamping our website, and serve you better! Members who joined during or before 2013 will be at a rate of $35/year. All new members will join at $50/year. All payments can be made to our paypal account at this email address (fair.tr...@gmail.com).
Membership includes:
1. Social media support - send us your event, sale info, launch of new line, etc. and we will post it on our social media outlets and this newsletter.
2. Access to our sales events - often we organize group sales events and spaces will be given to members first, then opened to other organizations. Plus, members will pay a discounted rate (possibly free) for participating in these sales events and non members will pay full price.
3. Mentorship program - we're setting up a mentorship program for members. You'll get access to a business mentor who can help you navigate the wonderful world of fair trade enterprise! See below for more details.
4. Publishing help: We have a new program for getting free press mentions and reaching out to media. As a member, we will submit your brand in various articles.
Here is the press we received for Eco Fashion designer Tara Lynn http://www.greenbrideguide.com/blog/5-hottest-eco-friendly-wedding-dress-trends-2014
5. Mentoring Program
Starting this month, NYCFTC is starting a Mentorship Program. Need help in a certain area? Feeling overwhelmed with all the decisions when navigating your company? Let us help connect you to a fellow NYCFTC member for guidance, love, and support. E-mail us with a few lines on what you are looking for in a mentor or the area you are most needing help with and we will pair you with a fellow member. Please e-mail us (fair.tr...@gmail.com) and copy Andrea at and...@abernadette.com
6. Brooklyn Night Bazaar
Date: TBD
For paying members, we are organizing a sales opportunity at the Brooklyn Night Bazaar. If you're interested, please let us know and once you pay your membership dues we will put you on the list.
7. Event Space
In our continued effort to offer more events and raise the profile of your company and fair trade in general, we want to compile a list of all the stores in NYC that carry our members' products. If you have products in any NYC shop, please email us (fair.tr...@gmail.com) and copy Saarah at saar...@gmail.com with the venue name, address, and what products they carry. Thanks!
