Hello all,

One of our Editing and Publishing Minor graduates now works full-time at Booktrib.com, and she sent along this call for a for-credit internship for fall, just in case you might be looking for one!

Meryl Moss Media Group
a leading Literary Publicity and Marketing Firm located in Westport, CT seeks an energetic self-starter who loves books and is interested in the publishing business. You will learn how publicity, marketing, and social media work to promote our bestselling and emerging author clients. In-person, or remote optional.

Qualified candidates will have the opportunity to learn the profession from the ground up, meet published authors, and understand how a successful book tour comes together. This internship is for college credit, with the potential for hire after the internship is completed.

Job Highlights: 
  • Work closely with experienced publicists to learn about book tours, author events, and capturing the attention of television and radio producers. 
  • Learn about social media outreach for authors. 
  • Get an insider's perspective on the constantly evolving world of publishing. 
  • Work on a diverse selection of campaigns featuring a variety of genres. 

Qualifications: 
  • Keen interest in books and publishing 
  • Well organized 
  • Knowledgeable in Excel, Word, and popular social media platforms 
  • Good communication skills in person, on paper, and on the phone 
  • Knowledge of Muck Rack and other social listening tools, a plus 
  • Knowledge of Canva, Photoshop, and WordPress, a plus 

Responsibilities: 
  • Conduct outreach for Amazon Review campaigns 
  • Identify and collect Influencer and blogger contacts for social media campaigns 
  • Writing compelling copy for Social Media for various clients
  • Reading books and assisting in writing press materials
  • Pitching authors to influencers, Podcasts, and other forms of media
