Player Evaluations:

·         Fairfax Little League does not hold tryouts. Every player that registers on time will play on a team. No one will be cut except those that signed up late and remain on the waiting list.

·         There are no player evaluations for Big League and Senior players.

·         There are no player evaluations for Juniors who played Juniors for Fairfax Little league during the Spring 2012 season.

·         Junior player evaluations will be held in mid to late February (place and time TBD)  for only the Juniors who did not play on a Fairfax Little League Juniors team during the Spring 2012 season.

Team Placements:

·         Big League and Senior teams will be formed by the High School the player goes to and special player requests.

·         Junior teams are formed by a player draft in mid-March designed to make each team as equal as possible on paper and maximize playing time and development at multiple positions for every player.

·         Junior and Senior teams will form in mid-March and practices will start as soon as the weather allows.

·         Junior games will start on or about March 25th and Senior games on or about March 30th and run through the last week of school.

·         Big League games in this area normally do not start until mid-May after the last High School baseball games are played. But if enough non-High School players sign up to form at least 1 team we will start games early in April.

·         Junior, Senior, and Big League players chosen as All Star Tournament Team players will get to play on through June and into July.

·         Fairfax Little League “Seniors” have won the District 10 Spring Tournament Championship and gone on to play in the State Tournament the past 3 years in a row!

Managers and Coaches are always needed:

·         If interested in managing or coaching a team this Spring please just add that information when you register your son or daughter to play AND contact me directly at darr...@hotmail.com

·         You do not have to have a son or daughter in Little League to be a manager or coach. Please think about volunteering and staying in the game.

High School Baseball Players!

·         Players that play High School Baseball are highly encouraged to also register for Little League Baseball to save a spot on a team so they can continue to play baseball after their High School season ends in May.

·         Fairfax Little League’s boundaries include: Robinson, Woodson, Fairfax, Paul VI and parts of Lake Braddock and Oakton High Schools.

o   Over the last several years many local High School baseball players have also played Little League baseball.  A few even play Travel and Little League baseball at the same time.

o   For example last year’s Seniors All Star team which won Districts and made it to the final game of the Virginia State Winner’s Bracket had Varsity and JV players from Robinson, Woodson, Paul VI and Fairfax plus several excellent non-High School players who all still love playing baseball with the friends they grew up with.

·         High School Players that start and/or play allot on their High School team should not play Little League baseball until after their High School season is over in May to eliminate risk of conflict or injury.

o   However High School players that do not start or get much playing time on their High School team may play Little League baseball games during the High School season if they ask for and get their High School coaches’ permission.

o   The following comes from the Virginia High School Rules found at: http://www.vhsl.org/doc/upload/pub-handbook-2012-133.pdf

28-11-1 INDEPENDENT TEAM RULE-Student responsibility for sports participation.

During the sports season for the relevant sport, a student may, while a member of a school

squad or team engaged in interscholastic sports become a member of or participate with an

organized team in the same sport which is independent of the school's control so long as

such participation does not conflict with the scheduled activities of the school squad or team.

No school or student shall be declared ineligible for participation in interscholastic sports

because of participation by a student as a member of an organized team in the same sport

which is independent of the school's control during the sports season for the relevant sport.

Very Respectfully,
