Yo Team,

There's a section on our FailCamp wiki that lists down the tasks that needs to be done. You'll find it below the list of participants.  Please take a look to see if you can help out with any particular task. If you are picking on a task, kindly add your name next to it so that we don't duplicate our efforts. Once a task is done, please stick it off using the <strike> </strike> tag.

Here's the task list for your quick reference.

  • Design a Logo. - Bipin. (the one you currently see)
  • Design a poster. - Rajeshwaran, 9962525949 . Baranidharan - 9840425316
  • Tidy up this wiki. - Sudar, 9840867986
  • We need a nice tag line.
  • Find venue and freeze the date
  • Find sponsors for food and snacks.
  • Design a backdrop
  • Buy Failcamp.in domain name
  • Get server space for website
  • Prepare a press release
  • Design small web buttons for blogs that says 'I'm speaking at FailCamp' and 'I'm attending FailCamp'
  • Design a laptop sticker (on second though, just the logo itself should do.)
  • Get Wifi at venue
  • Send mailers to Barcamp, OCC, Proto.in and other mailing lists.
  • Add the event to Barcamp.org main page schedule
  • Hire caterer. Fix menu.
  • Please bring your digital cameras. It will be good to take lots of snaps.
  • Add directions to the venue.
  • Add info about parking
  • Add sponsorship details.
  • Buy colourful post-it notes.
  • Arrange for a projector (can we request this from 10th planet?)

HI All,

I've drafted a rough press release as below- we can build upon that.

Failcamp press release

All of us love to talk about our success stories and achievements. But
do we ever pause for a while to discuss and learn from our failures?
Someone rightly said, “Failure is stepping stone for success”, but
most of us are hesitant when it comes to tell someone about our
failures. Come November 16, one event will make you shred your
shyness, open up and learn from your past mistakes for future success-
welcome to Failcamp.

Failcamp is an event in line with the likes of Barcamp, but with a
difference. While we tend to hide negative side of us in most of the
events, failcamp is all about discussing our failures and mistakes
with fellow participants and in the process, learn how the same can be
avoided in future and how a disaster can be turned into an
opportunity. While it takes lots of guts to admit our mistakes,
rewards can be equally higher for those who are open to learn from
their mistakes-join us at Failcamp to make that happen.

Event details:
Date: Sunday, 16th November 2008
Time:
Venue:
Open to: All
Participation: Free
Register at http://barcamp.org/FailCamp
Key contacts: Kiruba Shankar kir...@kiruba.com

-----------------end of press release--------------------------------
Also I find some error with failcamp Wiki page-anyone else facing the
issue?

Regards,
Nidhi

Hi Shrinidhi,  That's good work with the Press Release.

Mr.Srinivasan, can we draw upon your experience to structure this press release. Is it good to go or would you want to tweak it better?   (As a way of introduction, Mr.Srinivasan runs PRpoint, a professional PR agency)

Shrinidhi and Srinivasan, between the two of you, it would be great if we can finalize one to send it to the press.

Cheers,

Kiruba Shankar

Waiting to hear from Srinivasan on this. Also I do not have any
significant contacts in press- will be good if Kiruba or Srinivasan
can release it.
