Fellas,

Good morning.

Need your suggestion. There are many good folks who would love to
attend FailCamp and share their experiences but they never get to hear
about the event.

How can we reach out to these people? How can we reach out to people
beyond our blogs and twitter audience? Would love to hear your ideas.
Please reply to this thread.

Cheers,

Kiruba

There are people to do advertisements via mobile phones. Sending to some 2000 numbers are there. But same as srinieth mentioned it may create overcrowding too... if there are customized options of sending sms ads, we can do that.

Hari and Srini, Good suggestion. Will work on a simple press release and upload it to both our wiki and our google group. We can use this to send to our press contacts that we are in touch with.

Team, I have another idea. How about some of us inviting one person who we personally know and who we think will add a lot of value to the event.

Cheers,

Kiruba

SMS advertising is generally looked upon as spamming. Rather refrain from this kind of publicity.

Press releases and word of mouth seem to be the best way to get more people on the bandwagon.

Totally agree that Word-of-Mouth is the best way to get in good folks. Let's reach out to people we personally know and are impressed with.

Also, we are NOT looking for big numbers. Preferably 75. Max 100. Events like FailCamp work best when there are limited people.

The point now is how do we get some good folks in.  Ideas welcome.

Cheers,

Kiruba

Kiruba,

First tell us what are kind of people who are actually in your mind. I can see that you aiming for a group other than the usual, atleast i infer something like that. You expecting people who can share more about their failures..??

Hi all,

We should be looking for people around us who are into businesses....all businessmen have screwed small time or big time at some point in time....if we know of such people, who are ready to share experiences and learn there by they should be brought in.

Press release is a good idea. Lets just hope it doesnt bring in an Irrelevant crowd.

Failcamp could reach out to bodies (TiE, NASSCOM etc) or blogs (pluggd.in, WATblog etc) - and if we could have their representation, and if they could send out a message to startup guys calling for the ones who consider failure a useful learning experience - we will bring in the perfect crowd.

Im sure this has already been thought of before, but im just adding my paisas.

I think the best idea so far has been to invite someone from your own networks.

Alrite, lets get started!!

stories from our own crowd itself will be sufficient and i wonder that one day will not be sufficient

I have written about failcamp in my blog www.kprabu.com. On seeing that, 2 people have registered for the event. 1 person has prepared a poster for the event.

I also forwarded the failcamp link to my friends in my company.

We can send out an invite to the proto.in community. I am sure Vijay
can help us on that.

Good point, Ankit.  Considering that there'll be quite a bit of lessons shared on entrepreneurship  experiences, the event will be of interest to the Proto.in community.  Vijay, can you include this as part of your events update mail.

Cheers,

Kiruba
