C-85 Deionizer Column

Has anyone tried opening the deionizer canister to replace the resin. I would supposed the resin looses effectiveness after a long period of time.  I have never seen where I could buy a new one.  Even if I had, they probably be quite expensive.

I tried, it cracked and became unusable.   I now prefilter the water before it enters machine.
