I just picked up a faema C84/1 compact espresso machine and was wondering if I can find the deionizer with cylinder that goes with the machine? Also for plumbing it do I need one of those flojet pumps if I’m plugging into 5 gallon tank? Any help would be appreciated thanks !

Hi Dmitriy,

Welcome to the group. The cartridge in the machine is a water softener, which can be recharged so you don't have to replace it. But it seems like most people just remove it from the machine and condition their water externally. Depending on the water chemistry where you live, that may or may not be necessary.

As far as plumbing, you don't need a flojet if you can place the water tank at the same level as the machine or higher. Otherwise, if the tank needs to be lower than the machine, a flojet would be a good idea. The vibratory pump in the machine can pull against somewhat negative pressure, but not a lot.

Hi
Enjoy your machine, I have owned mine for 5 years and use it every day!

I couldn't locate a satisfactory deionizer, I bypassed and removed the deionizer tank.   I use prefilters on the supply line.

Good luck!

Great thanks for the quick reply's
I'll do just that, filter the water at the supply. I was just wondering if I could locate the cartridge somewhere as when I open the cap it is empty and I noticed i'm missing that piece. But if people just bypass it then I don't have a problem with it.

Yes, best of both worlds, cheaper AND better👍

I purchase filters off EBAY, I focus on scale because water is good here in New Hampshire, USA.

bit late sorry, I ordered the softener part from Europe, did not find american suppliers, still cheaper than a full-blown water softener
