Just thought I'd give you my experience in setting up Fadecandy. My setup is an outside 12' Xmas tree 8 channel. Everything went well with the exception of channel 6. It basically had a mind of its own. Swapped LED string, cable, checked power to it, even swapped the board, nothing seemed to fix it until I discovered the A/C line cord laying across the D/C serial cable to the LED string.
I also had general flicking with most of the LED's after the A/C line cord issue, I realized the sensitivity of outside interference. So I rewired the whole setup as per these instructions.
and kept the A/C incoming completely separated from the LED communications lines.
Now all is good. Hope this helps!
