How do we implement?

Also..one of thye complaints by our Commercial director is the number
of e-mail updates he gets when we are updating projects. Does anyone
know if there is a way round this...i.e. setting some sort of priority
rating to the updates and subsequent notifications, or perhaps a
'daily digest'?

yes, this is also a problem, but not so urgent for us

as we use google apps/gmail the change in the subjected helped to reduce the amount of conversations, another options would be

* do not subsribe to project/task, insttead subscribe to rss feed and check tasks changes through rss reader, the problem is that RSS seems not to work in our installation, we will have to have a look at it.
* programing round about might be cummulate the changes of the tasks and mail a digest mails in given interval

Sound like some useful mods.

I just purchased my first license a day or two ago, and am getting
ready to dive in and learn the layout of the code so I can make some
necessary mods for our situation.

We are in need of a few you have already listed...

Would you be willing to share a few of the features. I would gladly
trade, but don't have anything to offer as of yet.

It would help a great deal with learning the layout of the code if I
could see the alterations needed to modify FN.
For example, what files need to be altered to add an activity type
field to a task.

If you could help out, I would be very grateful, and look forward to
hopefully becoming an active part of this community as we dive in and
start implementing FN.

Hi TBone,

sorry, right now we are not planning to invest time in supporting
community with publishing our changes to code of FN and tutoring
codevelopers.

I am not a programmer myself, my guys who work on are junior
programmers, still (despite that they said it was not so easy to get
orientation in the code) were able to come up with solutions, so it is
definitelly possible to get under the skin of the FN code.

Instead of sharing freely our work I would prefere either a work split
on desired features, or contributing to the development financially.
