I've been searching for a Project Management app and just found
Factory Nova. Absolutely fell in love with the online demo as it's
basically doing everything I want. Then I went to post a pre-sales
question in the forum and realized it's status...

So I've continued my search and just can't quite find anything that
comes close to this product. Does anyone have suggestions for an
alternative? How stable is the current build? I'm half tempted to
just buy it anyway.

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Sid

Hi Sid,

we have been using FN in the company for 18 months and after some customisation (global tags, worklog reports, mass clonig of task etc...) we are very very happy with the SW. I also fell in love with FN from the first sight and I still love it.

When I was making research on project management PHP sw with worklog, the finalists beside FN were
The others apps probabbly made some progress since then, so as the FN future is unclear, it is worth to test them. On the other side, FN is pretty stable and feature rich SW and the price for source code is not that big, so it depend on your needs. Drop a note here, about your decision.

Thank you all. I'm going to look over these 4 options. It's also
nice to know it's stable because I still might take a chance and use
Factory Nova. It looks REALLY good and does almost everything I'd
want it to do.

Questions:

1) Has anyone modified it to sync calendars to a contact manager
program like Outlook or ACT? If so, how hard was it to do?

2) On the cloning feature. I don't see anything in the online manual
discussing how it's done. I need something to manage our sales
contract process which is a series of events based around an Anchor
Date (like the day we receive a contract or the day we intend to
close). So my series of events is:

Anchor (or start) Date- Tasks 1, Tasks 2
3 Days After Anchor Date- Task 3
5 Days After Anchor Date- Task 4
etc

or
3 Days Before Anchor Date- Task 1
1 Day Before Anchor Date- Task 2, Task 3
Anchor (or ending) Date- Task 4

Can I set up a series of events in Factory Nova to act that way and
then clone them?

Thanks
Sid

What kind of calendar you mean? How do you want to sync calendar to contact manager?

The standart Nova enables clone only whole projects, see Administration/Project (checkbox project) Clone project. If you set task dependencies it Gannt in original project, I guess it should clone also dependencies, but rather check.

I am not sure though what will happen when you create dependencies and then copy all the desired tasks to a different project, whether the dependenicies are saved or not.

You can try Streber or OpenGoo, they are both open source
