Data import difficulty

Hello,

When I commence a PCA analysis with data table structured to have the individuals listed in Column A, when this is imported into Factoshiny it creates a new column called names (each assigned a number counting upwards). Therefore my individuals names cannot be used as the names in the analysis. Why is this occuring?

The first "Names" column was not there in my data. I tried calling the second column (my original column) Names out of desperation which is why it is the same here. It was not called that originally and I have evn tried leaving it blank..

I also tried it with your decathlon dataset and the same thing happened

It is necessary to have the names of the individuals. So if the rownames are not available in your matrix, the names 1 to n with n the number of individuals are given to the individuals.

Thank you kindly Francois, I did not realise that R did not attribute the first column as a row name by default. I will have to figure out how to do this!
