Hello, I ran an HCPC after an MFA on a napping data set (coordinates and words frequency counts) and I obtained v.test and associated p-values for the words that particularly describe each cluster of samples.
Although I understand the overall meaning of the v.test, I am not sure what is the statistical test behind it. Could someone explain me? In particular, I do not understand what  those v.test values correspond to as no assessor scored any of the words for intensity.
Thanks in advance. Regards

The test is a test in order to compare the proportion of the words in a cluster compared to the proportion of the words  in the population. The test  is based on the hypergeometric distribution.
(More detailled can be found in the book Exploratory Multivariate Analysis by Example using R.)
For the vtest, it is the quantile of a normal distribution associated to the pvalues. The sign indicates if it is over or under represented in the cluster.
Hope to help,
Best regards,
Julie.

Hello Julie, thank you very much for your help with this. Thank you also for all what you and your team do to constantly upgrade and further develop R.
