Iam stuck since 2 days with this simple installation process of Visual Studio 2015 from my university portal (vs_communityENUS.exe which is a 3260 KB application). I am not new to installation and troubleshooting but this one has got me insane.
I checked my control panel but I did not find any files with the above name. Than, I got this amazing link that helped me remove any previous version of visual studio I have in my machine but a fresh installation after that also threw same errors.
If not and you cannot find the higher version of the VS Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable under Control Panel, please use MsiInv to gather information about what is installed on a computer, if it is confirmed that a higher version is existing, then you can ignore this warning information to use VS 2015.
I am trying to install Wireshark 3.6.4 on a Windows 10 machine (current on updates). The error I get says ""The Visual c++ Redistributable installer failed with error 113. Please make sure you have KB2999226 or KB3118401 installed. Unable to continue installation" Those KBs are not valid for Windows 10. I rebooted my machine. I reinstalled the Visual C++ Redistributable 2015-2022 and still get the same error. The older version of Wireshark (3.4.14) installs fine. Anyone have a clue?
Adding to this, I can extract the vcredist_x64 installer from the Wireshark install files when the install fails and run it manually without issue. Also note I had uninstalled all VS2015 versions of vcredist and had rebooted.
(((((This is due to a slightly different problem. We switched to Visual Studio 2022 for the 3.6.4 build, and unfortunately I missed backporting a change which is required to support that. I'm working on the 3.6.5 release, which should be out in a bit.
Hello everyone, I tried to install wireshark with windows x64 but i've got the following error :"wireshark error the visual c++ redistributable installer failed with error 5. Unable to continue installation. "
@Steven-Doig Some other users had this problem in the past. I usually helps to uninstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 Redistributable from Windows. The ACID installer should then reinstall it without problems.
@Steven-Doig The updater is just stored in the Temp directory and deleted as soon as the update process has finished or is canceled. I think Magix does it this way to sell users the update service instead of letting them backup the updates easily.
If you encounter this error during an installation, you can get around it by uninstalling those versions of the redistributables in the Control Panel, then manually installing both x86 and x64 older versions directly from this link. This problem has been corrected in maintenance kits 2016.1.4 and 2016.2.2 and all released 2017 versions by devchange ALE2949. This change is documented in the 2016.1.4 maintenance release notes.
@raan-summers I personally install Microsoft Visual Studio which comes with everything needed. I never have problems with missing or incorrect libraries. But it is a huge install and maybe overkill for the common user.
Beyond the error message, even if I select "update later" Acid has stopped working properly. I can play a track I've already assembled, but I can't change anything in it - volume repositioning, effects, etc - or it crashes. Once I start playing the track, if I hit stop, it crashes. This just started today. It was working fine other than refusing to update until now.
I just purchased Acid 10 to upgrade and upon installation. I'm having the same issues. I'm kind of surprised that no one has responded to this thread (and it's been quite some time). Did you ever resolve this issue?
None of this worked for me. What did work was employing a little trick I learned a long time ago but forgot. When you get to the "INSTALL" Visual C++ thing... hold the CTRL button down and then click the INSTALL button.. then it will go through without a problem.
I just wanted to say that, new update, same error. Like sheppo said above, I think there's some code that needs to be fixed and would appreciate it if Magix could take better care with the software we must love, cause we keep subjecting ourselves to this absolute nonsense.
I've tried all of the above, and even from the links from here (acid pro 8 failed) to other links at microsoft, etc... nothing seem to work for me with Update errors for ACID, in this case AMS11, but had same with AP10 and AP11 last year....
I have read your answer to the user that asked what to do after he got an error that "it appears Microsoft Visual C++ failed to install." You said that this error has no effect on the functionality of the program. To me a more important question is - Why then is it included in your installation package? I don't program in C++ and would rather not have it using up my drive space if it is not needed.
The application will not run if you don't have Microsoft VC++ redist installed on your machine. A bunch of features makes use of it and its an important part of the application. The application by default will install the dependent version of Microsoft VC++. About a month back we had issues with recent version released by Microsoft and we were not able to detect that - may be this is the reason you would have heard about its not needed. Which means - if you have the recent version of Microsoft VC++ and we are trying to install the older version it will give the issue and you can skip it during the installation.
I tried running the CheckUp application to and that failed my graphics card saying it has too little RAM. Really? I run high end racing simulation on 3 monitor in full 3D at 144Mhz. The NVidia system information is reporting 12256MB total available graphics memory.

I have VS2017 installed and was initially frustrated and then finally decided to look further; saw this and used 7zip to extract SketchUpMake-en-x64.exe into a directory and finally used the *.msi installer with success!
Confirm. I found the sketchup* .msi in the temp folder and cut it from there. Something is wrong with the installer offered on sketchup homepage. It gives the Visual C++ 2014 Runtime invitation but windows does not let that as it is already installed. (win 10 x64 home). People should use the .msi file. it just works.
I have just tried to install sketchup pro 2018. It gave me the same above error. I just tried to unistall the programs and window to me there are not on the computer. I also tried to install the program and it would not install. I am under a deadline and need this to run. it is not my choice program and i have a midterm project due tuesday. please help me to get sketchup installed. I just got my computer back today after some major problems.
MySQL required c++ redistributables, so I have installed both 2013 and 2015 redistributables, and the MySQL installer has successfully installed several programs, one of which being Workbench, but not MySQL Server.
Simply download the package for the CPU architecture which you do not already have installed and then afterwards re-run the MySQL Server install again and maybe the prerequisite check will pass.
Same issue here. In the end, i got it to install by unchecking:
-the 2 visual studio extensions
-gforce stuff
-physx
-nsight compute - i manually installed this individual package before trying to install cuda.
-nvidia audio
I have the same problem with CUDA toolkit 12.5. When I try to install Nsight Compute individually it show me some running processes that has conflict to install. I stopped these processes and services by task manager and services mmc then restart CUDA toolkit installer and finally got all components installed. )))
Component Visual C++ 2015 Runtime Libraries (x64) - 14.0.23026 has failed to install with the following error message:
"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel. "
Normally these products just realize they are already installed and continue but not with GP 2018. Did someone forget to program the installation routine correctly? I will simply uninstall GP 2016 but this should not be happening.
Derek, it was very odd. It was the same exact version so I would have thought the install package would not even tried to install it. The fix was to uninstall it and then allow it to be reinstalled. All is well now. Thanks for your comments.
Looking in our case history, I really didn't find anything else on this, other than what you already mentioned, to uninstall the prior version of the Visual C++ pre-requisite and allow the Dynamics GP 2018 installation to install it back.
Alright, My windows server 2016, is updated with last version of Microsoft Visual C++, and I uninstall and install again couple times, and nothing, same error again and again, Portal and DataStore same.
It's necessary stop all arcgis process and services running on Server, after that, system allows to unistall older version from microsoft visual c++ property, and install a newer version, after that, setup.exe from portal, server and datastore runs fine
