It is possible to use the Crystal Server 2011 to share reports from Crystal Reports Server 2011 right (?), so I have it all installed, both servers, but how do I import the reports into Crystal Server from the Crystal Reports and share them (creating users to access it using the browser)?
Go into the enterprise repositrory, log in; go to the sub folder wish and can drag and drop the report from your windows explorer; then need to make sure shared data source is in place. Alternative can perform update from repository and pull the new version of report in; then test. From report can push to repository. Yah, not clear in docs but what attempting is not trivial either.
I'm working with Crystal Server 2020 (trial), and I'm trying to test one of our Crystal XI reports. In our Crystal XI reports we set the DataSource Location using an OLE DB connection, and select a Stored Procedure. When we attempt to View the report, we get the msg "The viewer could not process an event. The database logon for this report is either incomplete or incorrect. CRWEB00000119". I did download and install the 64-bit MSOLEDBSQL driver and installed it onto the server. I guess I'm looking for more direction on how I should configure the "Database Configuration" settings on the report. Right now, the "Allow users to edit database logon configuration...." is checked by default, and the Data Sources has a value in it by default (not sure if the Data Sources setting is looking for an ODBC datasource? but I don't believe our report should not be looking for one.) Then, the Database logon information has "Use original database logon information from the report" selected with our server, db, and creds entered. But, I get the above error when attempting to View. I have tried using the "Use custom database logon information specified here" option, but I don't know what to select for the Database driver.
I was wondering if I can still ask some questions on this thread. I am still having problems getting my Crystal XI reports so that I can View them in Crystal Server. I tried changing the Datasource Location to use an ODBC connection within the report, and then tried to test Viewing the report in Crystal Server, but it keeps prompting me for the db user and password (even when I set the values in the Database Configuration area). I then switched this back to the OLEDB datasource, and verified that I have version 18.5 of the MSOLEDBSQL installed on my Crystal XI machine, and the server where Crystal Server is installed has both version 18.5 and 19.0.0.0 installed. But when I copy my report to the CMC in the Reports folder, and right click to view it, I keep getting prompted for the user and password for the connection. Also, if I use the Custom database login section in the Database Configuration, I'm not sure what to enter for the custom driver...I've tried MSOLEDBSQL...what are the possible values?
So, I may, or may not, have to modify the report and choose the newer OLE DB driver, correct? And, in Crystal Server, when I right-click my report and choose Use Custom database logon... how do I determine the name to use for the "Specify a custom driver" value?
When you publish a report to Crystal Server, it takes it's default database settings from Crystal. However, Crystal doesn't save the database password. So, you have to manually enter the password and then save the configuration - this is for every report that you publish to the server.
However, since the report was created in XI, you might also have to change the database driver that the report is using, in which case you would use the custom configuration section of the screen to set this up.
If you're using OLE DB, you must have the 64-bit version of the OLE DB driver for your database installed. Odds are that the version is newer than the one you used for the original XI reports. If that's not the case, odds are that the newer version of Crystal won't work with the older driver. If it is the case, you may have to edit each report and use Set Location to connect it to the newer version of the OLE DB driver.

I have a issue, I recently purchased Crystal Server 2020 1 null after demoing what I thought was the same version. When I installed the new license, I no longer had the ability to create publications which was one of the features that sold me on the server. Mainly the ability to stop a schedule from executing if the report is empty. The other feature was the ability to create a dynamic report by using a different report query to create a contact list.
I am having the same problem. Crystal Server 2020, latest patch, fresh install. My 1 named user license is missing the publish feature. I notice the License in CMC shows "Publish Recipients" is 0. Opened a ticket with licensing support. There is no documentation I could find about this feature not being available - in fact just the opposite. The website shows publishing in the "Key features" of the 1 NUL product offering.
I contacted support three times already. First time they told me to uninstall/reinstall the product. The second time they told me to clear the tomcat cache. I did a fresh install on a brand new server and still the same problem.
This is helpful, I thought that was the case in regards to the publication being part of the 1 null license. I also installed the server on a brand new server with the same specs as the server I used for the demo server. I actually swapped the license keys between the 2 servers and when I did the Publications became unavailable on the demo server so I thought it had something to do with the 1 null license key.
I opened a ticket with the license team. They asked me to apply a trial license they provided to see what happened. Once applied, the publish feature worked. They just replied back to tell me that confirms that I need to "buy a license". What is wrong with these folks?!
We're having exactly the same issue, everything tells me I should have access to creating publications but there is no option for that in our installation of Crystal Server 2020 1 NUL (this is licensed version). I sent a message to SAP support and it's been 5 days now without a response.
I just got an answer back from the licensing team that the "Publication Recipients not included in SAP Crystal Server user licenses." This is ridiculous, there is no such information anywhere that suggests this!
I've made this point to the licensing support agent, though I doubt this will get me anywhere. Does anyone know if Crystal Server 2016 has a 1 NUL and if so if it includes Publishing? I'm happy to downgrade as (other than the version #) this product seems to have not changed in the last 10 years.
Thanks Don, I made sure I was using a 2020 report and uploaded it while being logged in as administrator and it still didn't work. The image above shows how the publication is showing u on the demo license server but not the live license.
You can do this in the CMC under Servers by navigating to the Properties of each job server and under Destination . Enter there the connection data to your SMTP server. Save your changes and restart the modified server.
Go to CMC, go to servers
go to servers by category
then check Crystal Servers, right click the "ServerName.AdaptiveJobServer" server
and click destination
and there you have to adjust the mail server parameters
I'm doing a project that involves Crystal Reports Server. From code, I'm able to schedule reports successfully, but when I look at the BI launch pad I don't see the report in My Recently Run Documents (I see failed reports in that list - ones that has wrong database credentials).
When I go to Central Management Console and I find my reports in folders and I go to Properties > History I see the report status as "Running" - and it has been like that for a long while (too long than it should) for 2 different reports I have sent.
Open the CMC and then click on the Instance Manager. At the bottom of the page, you can filter on the object type and status. That way, you can get a full overview of all running reports on your platform.
If you select a running instance (either in a document's history page or in the Instance Manager), you'll notice that there is no stop button. Instead, you have to delete the running instance. It might not stop running immediately though (depending on what it's doing), but it will be removed immediately from the list of instances.
What I would recommend is to enable tracing on all related servers (thus your job server, processing server, etc) and then retry scheduling the report. This should generate additional logging on the server which you can use to diagnose the issue.
The trace files have the extension .glf (generic log file) and are located in the logging folder on your Crystal Server. Have a look at the command-line property of each of the servers for which you're enabling the tracing, you should find a log folder there somewhere.
Make sure to turn the tracing off again as soon as you're finished, as tracing will not only create extra strain on your servers (causing the system to slow down), but it will also result in very large log files.
Before starting with tracing, have a look at the existing log files to see if it doesn't already contain error messages that might help you diagnose the issue. Sort the log files by date, and look at the most recent one for each of the servers involved. If there's nothing in there, start with tracing, but remove the existing .glf files to minimise log contamination (some files will be locked, just ignore them).
