Hey Sean,
I didn't know if you'd seen it but they're putting up some previews
from Mecha & Manga. You can see them here:
http://www.mutantsandmasterminds.com/gimmicks_gadgets/cat_mecha_manga.php

From the looks of it, they are going for more template based character
creation with this one, similar to what they did with Warriors &
Warlocks. They have special chapters (one each) for dealing with
Mecha/Robots, Martial Arts, Super-Pets (Aka. Pokemon).

Yeah, playing it will likely not happen any time soon for me either..
but I'll admit to a little tingle of excitement when reading today's
preview:
http://grfiles.game-host.org/files/mangapreviews/MangaCh3Preview.pdf

Just the teensiest little hint on Mecha Creation rules.

Wow nice, I love the Mecha types they've listed. Pretty acurate
descriptions and having the comparable anime each type represents is
really nice feature. I really cant wait for this book to come out now!

Been reading through it.. not too deep yet but there is an interesting
attempt at non-combat combat.. as someone on the boards pointed out,
you could possibly use those rules to create a game where the main
conflict is via cooking contest.

Which is a completely viable combat style in anime. There was a really
cool anime that was about this guy who wanted to be a contestant on
Iron Chef and so would go around challenging other chefs in Tokyo for
practice. was pretty funny. I might get the PDF after all, though I'm
really chomping at the bit for the book itself.

I don't think I'll be getting the hard cover version. I've found that
I much prefer my collection in PDF form where I can pull it up when I
need it. Of course hardcopy is better for at the table... plus there
are the storage concerns. M&M 2e is 440 megs right now and I have it
backed up in a couple places just in case something happens.
