September Facilitators Guild

The Facilitators Guild will meet in September on September 21, in the afternoon.

 

PLEASE NOTE:  Our start time is planned for 2:30; however I may receive word from Kassandra at CCED that we can't get the room until 3:00, so please keep your eye out for a second message, most likely the Friday before (Sept. 16), confirming the time.

 

Bob Brown has offered to provide the trigger for our planned time, and I'll do my best to provide a thumbnail description of what it's about...   Situations or problems requiring a solution can be mapped on two axes, one tracking the level of agreement/disagreement between people on what is happening, and the other on the degree of inherent certainty/uncertainty about what to do.  On such a graph, situations can be termed "simple" (e.g. making bread) "complicated" (building a rocket), "complex" (raising a child), or "chaotic" (surviving in wartime).  Bob will share his thoughts about how this type of "situation recognition" might inform approaches in facilitating for social change.

Thanks to Val for a really great job sharing her experience of this summer's Freedom School through the lens of our six core values of effective facilitation.  It was an impressive distillation of a very complex experience.
