I'm definitely in the newbie category and feeling very lost at the
moment - although having attended a "Web 2.0 toolkit for teachers"
online conference I have had a stab at some of the applications. Also
have not so far managed to gain access to the "classroom", but thank
you to the organizers for this opportunity so far.

Best regards

Hi Diane

Good to see you here! I think we each incrementally add to our toolkit
as we take on each of these gatherings and sharing of knowledge. The
trick might be to let things that are not of immediate interest slide
by and hone in the challenge that might best serve our goals right
now.I personally do not think any learning experience should begin
with frustration and deficit as the motivator :-(

I would categorize myself as a comfortable technology user. I'm surround by it most days. The pace of this weeks conversations about finding and adopting technologies has been brisk, but it will be difficult to limit because of the variety of participants in the course. Some people can setup a blog, post and subscribe to rss in 15 minutes, for others this might take days. The people who are ahead of the technology learning curve should not be limited to what other technology and tools that might be useful. These conversations should be considered supplemental to the course and everyone should not feel that they need to completely understand what all the possibilities are before we move on. I think Jeffrey's comment about the "noise" in side conversations (diigo, pageflakes) is true. If you are feeling overwhelmed, I would suggest revisiting the goals for the week. I trust Leigh's schedule and pace.
If everything else is noise, just turn down the volume or, better yet, adjust the frequency to focus on Leigh (as he is the solid rock at the beginning of a very interesting ride). - Jeffrey
I'm excited to get to know people better and I feel that through reading individual blog posts it will be achieved.  I do believe we need to put people first.

My 2 Cents

Hi Wayne,
I really was encouraged by your comments and I consider it very thoughful. You seem to be speaking about some feelings I had when I was participating IN the last workshop of our community www.cpsquare.org.
Being a new member in the community I was unfamiliar with the terrain but now I am better after being a lurker on the said workshop.
You comments is useful to me and it has fired me up.

Cheers,
Olufemi
