Annual Burns Supper Weekend Proposal

A proposal for consideration:
Date: Friday 25 to Sunday 27 January 2013
Location: Lochranza Youth Hostel
Cost:
Accommodation = £18/night/pp
Ferry = £22.50 (based on 4 in one car)
Fuel contribution = £10
Food for Burns Supper = £10
Total = approx £80/head excluding other food and drink
Why?
Arran was a good location this year and Lochranza is the other end of the island.
Lots of good mountains on the island we haven’t climbed yet.
Lochranza is well located for bad weather alternatives, e.g. Cock of Arran
The youth hostel has recently been renovated so is in good condition.
We don’t need to take the full hostel, we can just book individually so reduces our individual cost exposure
It’s a big hostel (> 50 beds). Beds are available now and probably unlikely to sell out.
Probably a good venue for bringing family and friends
The hostel is 5 minutes walk from a pub with one of the biggest malt whisky selections in Europe (allegedly!).
5 minutes walk in the other direction is a distillery!
Can get a bus direct from the ferry terminal to the hostel if we want to reduce number of cars.
If interested or have an alternative proposal lets hear from you.
If Lochranza sounds good once we have say 12 definites we can start making bookings.
Details for speakers, cooks, walk leaders etc can be sorted out later.
