Please find attached the itinerary for a walk in the Borders of Scotland from Stobo to Broughton along part of the John Buchan Way. Ideal for families. 10km finishing in a nice tea room (The Laurel Bank) in Broughton. Transport back to start will be arranged.

 

Please let me know your interest and numbers as soon as you can as I would like to book some tables at the tea rooms.

I suggest the following:

 

1.       Dorota, Andrew, Layla – You all know each other, I suggest if you wish to share lifts, you get in touch and make your own arrangements. Dependent on where you are in Glasgow, Tom and Ellen may be able to assist with transport also.

2.       Graeme, Lloyd – you may wish to share.

3.       Rachael – I suggest you remain independent

4.       David – I can give you a lift.

 

Meeting place

 

I suggest we meet at Stobo Kirk where I hope there will be some parking available.  There is a small fingerpost sign on the B712. Try this link for a ‘street view’ image : https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&tab=gl ; Those using satellite navigation might want to try EH458NY – this is to the Stobo Castle Health Spa, the Kirk is a few hundred meters further east.

 

Please allow plenty of time to get to Stobo. Estimated journey time from the centre of Ed is 1 hour and from E. Kilbride is 1 hour, 15mins.

 

Weather

 

I will not be going if snow is forecast or if it is to rain continuously.

I will be going if showers are forecast.

 

Give me a call or text on the number below if any of you change you plans so we know not to wait.

 

I will post a message to the group on Saturday if I am canceling.

Irrespective of this, you are of course free to do the walk in whatever conditions prevail!
