Random ramblings and reflections on February sweeps

Well, the sweeps have come and gone again and not without the usual
kookiness. General Hospital has simultaneously "burned to the ground"
and suffered "minor damage". Wonder whether they will have to call
the show "Mercy Hospital", or how about "Mercy Me!".

The first thing I want to say is, how the HECK did that toxin guy
SWALLOW that....BALL??? I have trouble with my vitamin pills! (first
bit of phoniness) Actually, there is no point in keeping track of the
phoniness as it was all pretty much phony. I did get a kick out of
Sonny's women, past and present, all hanging out together in the
hallway. And what the heck was everybody doing wandering around the
corridors? I'm sorry, I'm not hanging around, I'm headin' for the
stairs! And I suppose it was simpler to make Trevor go nuts and fling
himself off the building than to actually bring his character to a
close. WTF??? When did he ever care about Johnny? All he talked
about was "me and Johnny" getting away together. Sheesh!

While I appreciate that the show is trying to support a cause (women's
heart health), I am getting pretty pissed off about having to watch
commercials DURING the show too! Whoever was writing this month had a
pretty hard time subtly working that stuff in! Those bits for Prego
and V8 fusion were so lamely thrown into the dialogue I can't believe
someone got paid to write it. Blah.

Am I glad Emily's evil twin has arrived? No. Do I care if we ever
see Dante (Corinthos) Falconeri? No. Am I glad Kelly's is back
open? Yes! I did miss the set. Am I sick of Nicholas following
Rebecca around all over town? HECK YA! GMAB! Am I tired of watching
Robin's mood swings? You know it!

There's lots more to say, but I could spend the day here trying to
write everything down. I'm glad that Liz and Jason finally broke up -
I'm sorry, I know there are those out there who loved them together,
but I was not one of them. I am such a traditionalist when it comes
to my story - I still think Luke and Laura belong together and not for
one MINUTE do I believe the whole Luke and Tracy have loved each other
from afar all these years - that was more piss-poor writing done by
some young thing who has no sense of the show's history...but I
digress. Liz belongs with Lucky, I'm sorry - they essentially grew up
together and have too much history to be re-paired, IMO.

And a couple of questions...does anybody know what's going on with
Edward's head? He wore a hat in every scene for a couple of months.

And...how about characters from the past we'd like to see? I have a
short list:
Helena Cassadine
Cesar Faison (did he die????)
Lucy Coe (although Maxie is filling in that role pretty well, I must
say)
Stavros/Stephan Cassadine (did Stephan die? I don't remember)
Any of the Quartermaine relatives - Jimmy Lee Holt or some other long
lost cousin!

How about a love interest for Monica? If Tracy can be newly married
at her age, why can't Monnie get involved with someone else and move
on?

I'm doing this in an e-mail hoping it ends up where it belongs.
 
I'm still wiggin' over "facebook", "mylook", "facespace", etc.  I just don't get how our website operates.  Gimme more time.....
 
Feebmonster....what a pleasure to see one of my best board buds, in my e-mailbox.
 
I shall try to continue the conversation, although I must warn you, I'm a week behind.  I had the freakin' direcTV taken out (along with the TIVO - ), but it was just too damned expensive.  Bill went from $50 - $80 a month, for BASIC.  Austin's computer (I'm on it now - I feel like the kid in the "pull-ups" commercial - "I'm a big kid, now") was running $50 a month, in addition to the DirecTV, so I made a deal with Comcast, who was running a promo, and now I get Austin's high speed internet, along with "basic" cable (so I can see the shows - otherwise they're snowy.) for less than I was paying for the internet, itself.  Tightening the belt around here, has never been more necessary, as this June, will mark the 2 year annniversary of my losing my job.  I "do" temp work, from time to time, but have been unable to find a full-time (with benefits) position.   It means I have to give back my beloved TIVO, however, there's always ABC.com, right?  For recaps, right?  To watch old shows? Right.  Please, somebody, tell me this is true, so I don't have to take another xanax.  I missed all this week's episodes, due to dr.'s appointments (yes, I really had that many - got a "boob-0-gram" for the first time, and I've been diagnosed with fibromyalgia - but, enough about that).
 
I believe the last "ball" of toxin, went flying off the roof with Trevor, but last time I saw it, it looked like a very dangerous toxin, in a plastic/glass container.  How come, it didn't break, like him, upon his "landing", thereby contaminationg everyone, everywhere & everything in Port Chuck? 
 
I totally agree, Feebs, about the "promotions" for "heart month".   Hell, I keep track off what's in the goody bags, at the "awards shows" (for the presenters), AND if somebody invited  me to a fundraiser, and wanted a big fat check, I better be going home with something other than a jar of Prego.  They'd have been better off skipping the "gift bags", IMO.  Everyone could have "had a V-8 bloody mary", wore red, and wrote checks. 
 
I appreciate TPTB trying to raise this issue, but isn't February also, "African American History Month" - so, how come no mention of that? (or did I miss the field trip to the museum)
 
This whole "R-emily" nonsense, smacks of poor writing, and even poorer judgement, IMO.
 
I really wish Trevor had grabbed Robin, when he jumped off the roof.  I never liked this character (although I think I liked her, when they show the "flashbacks" of her, as a child).  She is without a doubt, the most annoying part of the show for me, and she's managed to go through whatever she's going through, without missing a condescending, "know it all", I can't stand another minute of her, beat.
 
Feebs, I don't think Caesar Faison EVER dies...last we saw of him (I think) he was racing away in an exploding speedboat.  So, he could be "dead" dead - or just "soap" dead.  I, too, miss Helena....anybody think this Emily person might be connected to Helena in some way.
 
I think I put forth the theory months ago, that Spinelli, is indeed, the spawn of Sonny - this man could single handedly populate a small nation.  It's just too freakin' obvious, and I can't wait until Sonny finds out, that one of his children, is not "one of the beautiful ones" (although I love Spinelli, inside & out).  Sonny has made it his business to call Spinelli a freak, every chance he gets. 
 
I've totally missed the "Ed, what's that up on your head" scenes, but maybe I'll catch it later on at abc.com

Actually Trevor dropped the ball of toxin when he and Sam went off the
roof. Sam of course caught it in one hand and hung onto the side of
the building with the other. Wasn't thoughtful of the contractor who
built the hospital to put those hand holds there for her. Any way she
caught the ball, put in on the ledge she was hanging onto and waited
for Jason to rescue her and the ball. After Jason the Wonderful
rescued her they went back into the building and threw the ball into
the fire.

I also totally agree about the promotions for heart month although I
did really like Maxie in that red dress. I believe that girl would
look good in a grass sack. And yes February is also Black History
Month, you didn't miss any trips. The networks in past years have
done public service announcements regarding Black History Month, but
not so much this year. It had be speculated that because we finally
elected an African American President they felt there was no need do
to the PSA's. Who knows how these people think.

I never really liked Emily and Nik and Emily's perfect love story
bored the crap out of me. Watching them was like watching paint dry.
Not Em is no better and is it possible that her acting got worse?

I lost all respect for Robin when she betrayed Jason over the Micheal
thing.

Not Emily connected to Helena would require that the writers get off
there ass and actually write something new, so there is probably no
chance of this happening. The Not Emily story is a lot like the
killing off of Al on One Life to Live and then bringing the same actor
back as Michael and paring him up with Marcy (who was Al's love of a
lifetime). It didn't work over there and I can't imagine that it will
work any better on GH

I really hope that Spin is NOT one of Sonny's brats. That man has
enough kids and really is he that good of a father? I don't care how
many times random people on the show assure him that he is Father of
the Year material, he stinks as a Dad. Period! Sonny has gone about
as far as he can go. He showed promise of growing when he was with
Kate, but TPTB took care of that and he is right back where he was. I
really hate that character and would like to see him go to the big
organization in the sky.

No one mentioned Ethan! What do you guys think of him. He grates on
my last nerve and I can't stand to watch him talk. There is just
something about him talking that freaks me out. I think its because
he doesn't really open his mouth. All you see is teeth. Plus I don't
really think this guy is all that good looking.

There was a mention of Edward wearing a hat, but there was no
explaination of why. I assume that John Ingle has some kind of
problem and it requires his head be covered.

ABC does still have recaps and now you can watch GH on line. The eppi
will appear the day after it airs.

do I have to "download" anything onto Austin's computer, in order to watch the missed episodes?
 
I remember watching a "desperate housewives" epi, and a "grey's anatomy", but don't recall having to download anything.  However, when I went over to abc.com (same site - weird) for GH epi's, I was told I had to "DOWNLOAD" SOMETHING, or other, and I just can't do it, because Austin will freak or something.
 
I guess I'll just have to catch up, by written recaps.  As of now I am 7 shows behind...today will be the 8th.  I'm lost.  Forgive me for not having more to add to this conversation, but I'll say this:  if TPTB really wanted to entertain me, they'd have had "Ro-been--there, done that" hanging off that ledge, with Sam right next to her....oh wait...I forgot, Sam's a superhero-we'll probably witness her flying, in the not too distant future.  Is there nothing she can't do?  Why does she go slumming in Port Charles, with her resume.....isn't there something else, somewhere else, she could be doing?  Basically, if I remember correctly, she was with Jax, then Sonny, then Jason & now Lucky (did I miss anybody - OH WAIT ....I FORGOT - RIC).  I'm so bored with her bed hopping, i see no chemistry between her and any of her "boys", and I want her shipped off to a convent, poste haste, lest she corrupt anyboy else.

There is something they do when you try to watch the eppis, but it is
not a download which adds a program to you computer. Did that make
sense. I did what they told me I had to do to watch the program, it
took a few seconds and then everything was OK. I have not noticed any
new programs on my computer.
