I want to do this:

1) Create a random male face.
2) Create a random female face.
3) Use those two faces to create a genetic "child" face.

I know there is way to do this SORTOF, but the problem is in the underlying structure.  There seems to be only one model type. So, the children of any two faces kinda end up looking the same.

Maybe there are other models to start with?

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks!

It sounds like you would like to generate multiple different children from 2 parent faces.

The closest thing you can do in the current version is:
* 'Modify -> Tween' to get the in-between face, then:
* 'Modify' -> 'Genetic' to create random variants of that face.

I agree that this isn't quite the same as randomly generated children.

I will add this to our feature request list for a future version.

Best wishes,

Thanks for the fast reply.

I thought more about it and would like to expand on my original question if you don't mind.  What I want to do is create a man and woman.  Then create children for them.  I want the children to be genetic or tween, or whatever the term is, and look like their parents.  THEN, I want to be able to have THOSE CHILDREN do a genetic or tween deal with other created faces.  The thing is, when I do this with the current version of FaceGen, at the end of, say 10 generations, you kinda get back to a "facegen" look if you know what I mean.  In other words, there is a standard look that is the sortof default that ultimately, after so many iterations of tweens/genetic modifications, you find yourself back at.

Do you see what I'm asking? Is there a way to retain a strong resemblance to prior generations, and when new characteristics are brought in, they are also passed on?

Yes, I see what you're asking.

The issue with the current approach is that 'Tween' is an average, which reverts to the mean the more you do it.

Genetic recombination is not the same as averaging, so I will add this feature at some point.

Thank you for your suggestion.

Best wishes,

I did a sort of version of this manually, starting with a single face, modifying it into two parents, and then modifying the original face again into 4 siblings. An automatic way would be great. I'd thought about doing something in an Excel spreadsheet, but not every slider has numeric values.

But I'm definitely a willing test subject if you need one.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply again.  Do you know when a feature like that would be added?

Probably within a year.

My go-to method, using DAZ Studio, would be to create and export the parent heads into the same directory in DAZ, then, within DAZ, dial the two "parents"  appropriately to create the child.

Within DAZ, there are also youth morphs available to further tweak the "age" of the resulting child head.

If I really want randomness, I'd use SimTenero's RANDOMIZER script and choose the specific "parent" head morphs.  (This way, you can even add the 'grandparents'  to the mix, assuming all the male/female morphs are in the same directory!)

It's not a 1-click solution, but it works for me.
