One of the interesting things is that normally Facebook does not share
sexual preferences, religious beliefs or significant others through the API
unless a user has specifically authorised it.

That means that predicting the sexual preferences of others requires jumping
through extra hoops, botting, or group membership, which isn't protected.
Regardless the idea of looking for significant associations between people
still remains true... One could probably tell that I was significantly
involved in the Perl world even if my profile was completely empty, simply
due to the number of Perl-related friends I have.
With luck, I'll have a chance to play with this more in the next two weeks.
