Hi everyone,
I wanted to share some data and a few breakthroughs we had recently while working with a wedding photographer (Luminus) in Northern California.
A lot of photographers in this group have mentioned that Facebook ads "don't work" for high-ticket services like weddings. We found that it usually isn't the ads that fail, but the lack of a tracking foundation and a proper funnel.
The Background: Luminus had great work but relied 90% on referrals. Their lead flow was unpredictable. We spent $1,200 over 30 days to see if we could build a "system" rather than just a one-off campaign.
The 3 Key Changes That Moved the Needle:
1. Moving to an Agency Ad Account Personal accounts are often limited by spending caps and "random" flags. Moving to an agency structure allowed us to scale the budget during peak weeks without the account getting flagged. It gave us a stable environment to test.
2. The 4-4-2 Budget Strategy Instead of one ad for everyone, we split the budget:
40% Awareness: Short Reels of emotional moments (vows, first looks).
40% Consideration: Carousel ads showing full wedding stories to warm leads.
20% Conversion: Retargeting people who visited the booking page but didn't finish.
3. Authenticity > High Production One of the biggest surprises: raw, 15-second clips filmed on a phone or simple highlights outperformed cinematic, highly-edited montages by 3x. For wedding clients, that authentic connection is what drives the click.
The Result:
Spend: $1,200
Leads: 162
Booked Clients: 29
Revenue: $14,500 (12.08x ROAS)
A Lesson Learned: It wasn’t perfect from Day 1. Our first week brought in leads at $25 each because we were targeting too broadly. Once we shifted to "Life Events" (people engaged in the last 3 months), the cost dropped to $7.41.
If anyone is currently struggling with high lead costs or tracking issues (especially with the iOS changes), I’m happy to answer any questions or share more about our setup.
