Grassroots Leadership cordially invites you to Bridging the Gap: Uniting Black and Brown Communities in Houston on October 9th. Please save the date for this event and RSVP for the conference by emailing hou...@grassrootsleadership.org.
The
purpose of this one-day summit is to bring stakeholders, organizers and
activists together to address common histories, practical barriers,
identify opportunities, and cultivate working relationships. We will
develop appropriate strategies and solutions to successfully unite
African American and immigrant communities. Through education, culture,
and arts we will learn our shared histories, discuss issues immigration
and criminal justice, and celebrate victories within our diverse
communities. The summit is free of charge, but donations are welcome.
What: Bridging the Gap: Uniting Black and Brown Communities When: Saturday, October 9th, 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m., reception follows Where: PlazAmericas (former Sharpstown Mall), 7500 Bellaire Blvd @ Hwy 59S 77036

FYI..We will be holding a press conference to introduce the Racial Profiling Report from the Face the Truth Campaign. If you have not reviewed the report, please visit, Faces of Racial Profiling: A Report from Communities Across America, and a short video, Racial Profiling Across America, created in partnership with Breakthrough. The Press conference will take place at the Bridge the Gap Conference. We encourage involved organizations attend and the press release as well as those who gave testimony at the hearing.
