Hello everyone,
The Report is finally here and a sample press advisory is
attached! Yay!
Report
First, a big THANK YOU to everyone who sent us feedback, to all our partners who pushed themselves to organize amazing hearings, to all the staff who spend countless hours writing and editing the report – but especially Rebecca and Nadine who went back to the drawing board for numerous! edits.
The pdf of the report is too large to send via this email account so please look for an email that comes from tribe...@gmail.com (my personal email). In the near future, it will be up on our website for all to download. Also all Hearing partners should get an initial 50 copies rush ordered to you for the press work. We will send out many more to all partners after the briefing.
This report is not to made public in any way until it’s release on the 27th!!!! We are sending it to you so you can send it to your partners who want to view it before the press conferences next week. If you did not participate in the hearings, please do not forward this to anyone. If you need to send it to friendly press contacts please keep this report embargoed until the 27th.
I wanted to make note of the process so that you can inform your partners. This report was written in an amazingly short period of time - 1 month from the last hearing. We sent the first draft to all of our Steering Committee members and Hearing partners. Though folks did not have a lot of time to edit the report, we opened the process to over 65 people to edit the report and got a lot of feedback. For those of you who write reports, you can imagine how hard it is to incorporate so many edits from a variety of different people and organizations. RWG works hard to move our work forward as a coalition and we pushed to do this with the report. I think the limited time was the most difficult part of this process, but we needed this out before congress ended the session. The staff who wrote the report did a great job of lifting the voices of those who spoke out. Each section starts and revolves around the people who spoke out. We are open to feedback from folks and really hope that your partners enjoy the report.
The report and stories will be used to create numerous factsheets and other materials. There is also a video coming out from the Hearings and there will be shorter summaries written for people to distribute on the ground. Folks are welcome to use it for their own materials and local advocacy. If people create other materials using parts of the report, please let us know so that we can share those materials with others on our website.
