Extended Gaussian Image (EGI) matlab implementation

Hi all,

I've recently read this paper

and think this approach might be applicable for face recognition.

I am aware of the seminal paper by Horn on EGIs, but was wondering
whether anyone could point me in the direction of a matlab
implementation (or any other language for that matter) of EGI or
complex EGI. I am finding it very non-trivial to normalise the data
into areas on the curved surface of the Gaussian sphere.

I have searched quite extensively, but thought I would turn to some
expert help here in this community.
