Thereis even a better rationale for why the hero is left home alone. Played by a winning newcomer named Alex D. Linz, who seems almost too small for a middle initial, the kid gets the chicken pox. His dad is out of town on business, his mom has an emergency at the office, and his brother and sister are at school. So he's left home alone, with a beeper number, a fax number, a cell phone number, the number of Mrs. Hess across the street and dialing 911 as a fallback position.

The subplot has already been set into motion. A spy ring has stolen a computer chip, and because of an exchange of identical bags at the San Francisco airport, the toy truck containing the chip has ended up at Mrs. Hess' house. Four spies fly to Chicago on the same plane with Mrs. Hess and have four hours on board to search for the bag, but somehow they fail to find it and end up deciding to burglarize every house on little Alex's block.

And the booby traps, while painful, are funnier this time. Sure, people fall down dumbwaiters and through floors, and get hit on the head with dumbbells and flower pots, and end up in the frozen swimming pool, but Raja Gosnell's direction sidesteps the painfulness and makes it OK. The stunts at the end are more slapstick and less special effects. And the result is either more entertaining than in the first two films, or I was having a very silly day.

You may be wondering, what does a tarot card reader and a reiki healer have to say about this? Let me tell you: the feelings of sadness, anger and exhaustion being held back in meetings and boardrooms show up in my holistic healing space.

As a healer, I end up doing a lot of shadow work and energy work with my clients to battle burnout and emotional PTSD from work environments. They reach out even when they have therapy and counseling because they understand that spiritual work has its own depth and wisdom that they can gain from.

I am grateful that LinkedIn has become a much more forgiving and compassionate platform since the pandemic started. It has become a safe place for many to share their stories about unexpected layoffs and painful work experiences.

I want to expand the social safety net found on LinkedIn and continue the conversation that has started here, in an intentional way. I'd like to formally invite you to join my weekly or monthly group coaching sessions.

As I explained in my initial kickoff newsletter, I created my Room for Us community as the third place between home and work. This way everyone can find an oasis of safety and understanding where they can be held, seen and honored.

We will kick off our first weekly group coaching session this Tuesday, January 24th at 12-1pm ET. This week's theme will be on replanting your roots when you have to make an unexpected move. I wanted to start here because I have seen an uptick in company layoffs due to the economy, and frankly due to mismanagement. I look forward to welcoming you into the Room for Us Living Room.

I also want to encourage my fellow Asian American community members to reach out if you would like a free holistic healing session in honor of the Lunar New Year, and in light of the shooting in Monterey Park. You are not alone--we are not alone!
