My name is Leslie Owens and this group, the Fabulous Felters is
dedicated to Feltmaking, specifically for the students in my classes,
but also to everyone who visits and is interested in Felt.
I had originally created another group for the Fabulous Felters, this
time on Google. So any of you that joined or were planning to join
the .Mac group, please go to the sidebar to join this site instead.
Sorry, Sorry, Sorry. I promise that the improved interface will be
worth it!
I think the Groups format is exciting. I like the idea that everyone
can post and discuss felting topics with their classmates and have a
virtual show of their work. And most of all, I believe that felting is
such an obvious craft to practice at home, and having a community to
sign on to visit, ask a question, post a work in progress, and receive
support and encouragement is a huge advantage.
Hopefully more folks will feel like they can participate on this group
- everyone can post "pages" with photos and descriptions of their new
pieces, asking questions and arranging to get together. You can also
set your own preferences (Edit my membership, on the sidebar on the
left) as to whether you get new posts emailed to you and how. I will
post schedules (manually, sigh) of upcoming classes and other tips and
info.
For those who are not inclined to join or visit groups, but still want
to keep informed, you can always visit my website at http://www.floridafelt.com
which will be updated with all the new classes and shows. You can also
visit my blog, where some of the group page content will be repeated.
I hope to hear from all of you, one way or another.
Leslie
Once you are a member, feel free to add posts, articles and photos.
You should upload the photos to the Files section first, and all
uploaded photos are viewable just by clicking on that link in the
sidebar. Be sure to name your file with your name and a mini-
description so it becomes a caption on that page.
To include the photos in a commentary about them, an Article, click on
that link in the sidebar and click New Article button. You have many
layout tools as well as the photo feature. Anyone familiar with MS
Word should be able to make a lovely article.
To post to a discussion, just click on the word Reply at the bottom of
a post like this one. Or you can start a new topic by clicking on new
post in the list section. You can't include photos in the Member
Posts, but you can refer to your photos in the File Library, by name
so we can find them. Please note that posts can't be deleted after
they are posted, and I am not moderating the posts at this time. (Boo
censorship) But that means you should be constructive and respectful
to your fellow felters... as if you wouldn't be? Of course you would!
If you have any problems with the site, please click on the words
Reply to Author below and you will contact me directly. There could
well be features or bugs I haven't discovered, so please let me know!
